about

a fleshed out version of a voice-note demo i'd made in the spring. experimenting with "d modal" (or dadgad) tuning after reading a book about neil young. the water sounds in the background are from rockwood park here in saint john, and are actually the first sounds i recorded for this thing. my neil young/fleet foxes/wilco track.

the harmonies in the first chorus make me wince, but by the second chorus, they're sitting pretty. it's harder to do than i thought it'd be. you record the first line, kinda putting syllables wherever you want, and then the second one has to match all of the phrasing (or "timing", if you prefer).

good exercise though. a style i've always loved but not often worked in.

lyrics

do ya do ya do ya
do ya do ya do ya
do ya do ya do ya
do ya do ya do ya

nothing's permanent any more
nothing's permanent any more

do ya do ya do ya
(the season is calling out)
do ya do ya do ya
(the reasons are all around you)
do ya do ya do ya
(don't it feel good?)
do ya do ya do ya
(don't it feel good?)

nothing's permanent any more
nothing's permanent any more

do ya do ya do ya
do ya do ya do ya
do ya do ya do ya
